02-07 JEEP LIBERTY (KJ) POLYURETHANE STEERING RACK BUSHINGS
Direct replacement for your worn or missing OEM Jeep steering rack bushings. The factory bushings are made from a soft rubber which deteriorates over time and leaves less then desirable steering feel. There are two problems that arise with the factory bushings. Firstly, the rubber material the factory used is very soft and not very strong. The steering rack has great force and can easily deflect these bushings causing a loose steering feel. Secondly, it is very common for the steering racks to leak fluid on to these bushings which leads to them deteriorating rather quickly. Some customers have informed us that their steering rack bushings were actually missing when they went to install ours. Most owners do not know how bad their steering feel is until replacing their steering rack bushings. After installation of the polyurethane steering rack bushings, you will immediately notice how much better your Jeep feels.
Installation instructions can be found on our website under support or you can view them here – https://creative-steel.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Jeep-Liberty-Install-Instructions.pdf
Polyurethane steering rack features-
- Stronger material and the Liberty steering rack fluid (ATF+4) has zero effects on longevity.
- Because of our 2 piece design, there is a actual flange on top to isolate NVH unlike the factory bushings.
- We machine new pins out of 6061 aluminum to ensure a perfect press fit.
- Anodized black aluminum pins.
- Limited lifetime warranty

I installed these on my Liberty a year ago after the rubber bushings on my steering rack disintegrated. Pushing on the tires would cause the whole rack to shift side-to-side.
The split design made installation quick and easy and the instructions were helpful; just make sure you have long enough ratchet extensions to reach the rack bolts for torquing.
After installation the steering was solid again and has remained that way ever since. If you need to replace your bushings, get these and support one of the few companies making high quality parts for the Liberty.

I had to replace the radiator on my ’05 Jeep Liberty and since I’d have that and the fan out I figured it would give me room to replace the OEM bushings that needed replacing – especially the driver’s side which is notorious for deteriorating on a regular basis. The instructions Creative Steel provides are spot-on and the worst part was getting that dang oil chute out. I think the total time to do the swap was 40 mins and 20 of that was on that chute (and cleaning off old oil/dirt/grime).
Install was a breeze and the steering is nice and tight with no clunks any longer. I also put in new sway bar bushings at the same time and the front end is better than new now. So far, I am more-than pleased with both the product and the company (thanks, Kristie!) and I expect these will perform better and last longer than OEM for only a slight up-tick in cost. So glad there is an alternative to the rubber-type bushings!
Oh, and a suggestion instead of using heat to get the old bushing out. Just use a 16mm deep socket and tap out the insert with a hammer (from above), the old rubber will then just peel off the wall and can easily be pushed out. Clean up the bore before inserting the new bushings. Took about 1 minute per side to remove the old ones.

Replaced the poor quality oem bushings on a newer kk liberty with these and they fit great and installed easily. They should fit 2008-2012 liberty/dodge nitro.
