03-06 Mercedes E55 AMG Polyurethane Rear Subframe Bushings
Our polyurethane subframe bushings for Mercedes are a direct replacement for OEM rubber bushings. The OEM bushings are very soft which make them ideal for isolating noise and vibrations; however, it comes at a cost of reduced vehicle handling. The OEM subframe bushings allow the rear subframe to move effortlessly causing less then ideal handling due to suspension alignment changing while under load. Another problem with the OEM bushings is their tendency to either break the mounting bolts or tear the threads out of the body of the car. These polyurethane bushings will help in reducing these failures as the force on the bolts will be less due to less acceleration of the bushings. Our polyurethane bushings not only hold the rear subframe in place, they do it with minimal increase in vibration and noise. Most customers will not notice any difference in vibration or noise with our street bushings.
Hardness choice will depend on how you would like the bushings to behave. If the vehicle is a daily driver/weekend fun car, we suggest purchasing the (daily driver/street) black bushing set. Our black subframe bushings will give the most comfort and feel close to the OEM Mercedes bushings in a comfort standpoint while holding the subframe in place. If your goal for the vehicle is mostly racing, we suggest purchasing our (race) red bushing set. The race bushings are very hard and will offer very little give. The red bushing set will increase vibration and noise.

I ordered these for my Renntech SL65 (I chose the red ones) and it feels like an entirely different car. Stock bushings were junk and the car was very hard to control under hard acceleration. Replacing the subframe bushings is probably the best bang for the buck mod you can do!!
Rent their tool. Install was fairily straight forward, but would be next to impossible without the tool.

I ordered a black set for my daily 05 E320 CDI. The install was easier than I had initially thought, the options are to lower the complete subframe or to do a side at a time. I decided to lower the frame and replace a few additional bushings at the same time. It is doable with jack stands, a jack, the Creative Steel tool (if you are doing this yourself get the tool it will save you a lot of headaches), and household tools. Creative Steel’s support is absolutely amazing the guys are knowledgable and extremely responsive if you run into any roadblocks during the install.
The change in the driving feel is significant during regular driving. I wouldn’t say I’m an aggressive driver but sometimes it’s nice to punch it on the highway. The best way I can describe the change is the “boatyness” is gone. For example, when going into a sharp turn like an onramp the car’s weight would shift and I would need to re-adjust the steering wheel. When going in a straight line and punching the gas I would need to adjust the steering wheel to keep the car moving straight. All of these behaviors are gone or significantly reduced and the car drives more precisely. I haven’t noticed any change in road noise or harshness at all. I’m sure in extreme conditions like hitting a monster pothole you may feel a change but in daily driving, under normal conditions, I haven’t noticed anything in the last 3 weeks I’ve had them installed.
A quick note – I did not need spring compressors when lowering the subframe, on my car at least the springs were under low tension when the wheels were off the ground.

2005 E55 AMG Wagon – An absolute must upgrade stock or modified. I am highly critical of buying the highest quality items and Creative Steel has nailed this subframe bushing kit. I give this a 10/10 rating.
It changed the “sloppy” soft OEM rear mounts and made my E55 Wagon track straight and true. Alignment was a breeze and spot on.
Before under acceleration I could feel the rear end move and and not track true to the chassis. Granted the M113K Supercharged is a torque monster but that’s even more of a reason to upgrade this. Not only it firms up the rear, but it centers it dead on because of the machined aluminum inserts. Really thought through and well engineered.
That relives the stress on the bolt and threads and helps the subframe translate the torque to the wheels put putting equal pressure everywhere.
Keeps the geometry of the rear end true and help with tires. Eliminating “wasted” power into rubber flexing means directly translating that to power at the wheel. Most-likely saving you from snapping a rear subframe bolt and that is a nightmare to deal with…!
I will buy again and highly recommend! Top notch quality product and the rental tool made it and absolute breeze to install!
Made in the USA with high quality products is very important. A+
