Grip, Don’t Hop: Solving Wheel Hop with Precision Suspension Components

April 5, 2026

There is nothing quite as gut-wrenching, or potentially expensive, as the violent, rhythmic bouncing of your rear wheels when you try to launch your car. This phenomenon, known as “wheel hop,” is the natural enemy of every performance enthusiast. It’s a clear sign that your factory suspension components are being asked to do a job they weren’t designed for.

At Creative Steel, we’ve made it our mission to engineer the “hop” out of your driving experience. By replacing compliant, vague factory parts with precision-machined automotive parts, we help you put the power to the ground where it belongs.

Why Your Suspension Components are Failing the “Launch Test”

The primary culprit behind wheel hop is deflection. When you hit the gas, the torque tries to twist the tires. This force is transferred through the drivetrain and into the suspension. If your bushings are made of soft rubber, they compress and then “spring” back, creating a cycle of gripping and slipping.

To fix this, you need a holistic approach:

  1. Subframe Bushings: If the entire rear subframe is shifting, no amount of other upgrades will fix the problem.
  2. Trailing Arms: These control the fore and aft movement of the wheel. If these are flimsy, the wheel will move back and forth under load.
  3. Control Arms: Proper geometry is essential for maintaining a flat tire contact patch.

The Ultimate Solution: The Ford 8.8 Differential Swap

For many Cadillac CTS-V owners, the weak point isn’t just a bushing—it’s the differential itself. The factory Getrag units are notorious for failing under high horsepower. Our Ford 8.8 Differential Swap kit is a game-changer. It allows you to swap in a much stronger, more reliable differential while utilizing our heavy-duty suspension components to ensure the fitment is perfect and the wheel hop is gone forever.

Precision Handling Beyond the Drag Strip

While many focus on the launch, high-quality automotive parts also transform how your car feels in the corners. Upgrading to polyurethane bushings and adjustable toe rods means your alignment stays true even under heavy lateral G-forces. You’ll notice more “telepathic” steering and a rear end that feels planted, rather than twitchy, when you’re pushing the limits on your favorite backroad or track.

Frequently Asked Questions (Suspension Edition)

Q: What is the most important part to replace to stop wheel hop?
A: While it varies by vehicle, the trailing arms and differential bushings are usually the “low-hanging fruit.” However, most newer vehicles have very soft subframe bushings so we generally recommend replacing those first. If the subframe is allowed to move an excessive amount, any improvement in any of the other bushings will be lost through the subframe bushings.

Q: Are polyurethane bushings squeaky?
A: Only if they aren’t lubricated properly during installation AND it is a bushing that rotates or a shaft is rotating inside of it (Sway Bar). The squeak you hear is due to friction between the metal and the polyurethane as the suspension goes through its travel. Bushings that do not rotate like subframe bushings and differential bushings, will not squeak. Additionally, all of our rotating bushings are designed so that you can grease them on the vehicle without removing the bushings. This feature is rarely seen from our competitors. On top of that, we provide high-quality synthetic grease with our kits to aid in installation and ensure quiet, smooth operation for years to come.

Q: Will these parts affect my ride height or alignment?
A: Most of our bushings and arms are designed to maintain factory geometry and ride height unless you specifically choose an adjustable component for tuning purposes.

Conclusion: Take Back Your Drive

Whether you are fixing a leaking mount in your drivetrain or building a track monster with upgraded suspension components, the goal is the same: confidence. You shouldn’t have to wonder if your car is going to break every time you step on the gas.

Creative Steel is here to provide the engineering and the automotive parts necessary to turn your “problem child” into a precision machine.

Beyond the Clunk: The Ultimate Guide to Upgrading Your Drivetrain and Engine Mounts

February 5, 2026

If you’ve ever shifted your car from Reverse to Drive and felt a jarring “thud,” or noticed your engine bay sounding more like a paint mixer at a hardware store, you’re likely dealing with a failure in your drivetrain mounting system. For owners of high-performance vehicles like Cadillac V series, Dodge SRT’s, or Mercedes AMG’s, these aren’t just minor annoyances—they are symptoms of a design flaw that compromises your car’s potential.

The standard automotive parts that come from the factory are often designed for a “soft” feel above all else. While this makes for a quiet ride off the lot, it doesn’t take long for those fluid-filled rubber mounts to fail under the pressure of spirited driving. At Creative Steel, we believe your car should be as robust as it is powerful.

The Anatomy of a High-Performance Drivetrain

Your drivetrain is responsible for transferring every ounce of torque from the crankshaft to the tires. However, the engine and transmission mounts act as the anchors for this entire process. When these anchors are weak, the engine twists, the transmission shudders, and you lose power before it ever hits the pavement.

Upgrading to performance-oriented components isn’t just about making the car “stiff”—it’s about precision. By securing the drivetrain, you ensure that the geometry of your driveshaft and axles stays exactly where it should be, preventing premature wear on expensive universal joints and seals.

ELIMIVIBE®: Strength Without the “Race Car” Rattles

Historically, enthusiasts had two choices: mushy OEM rubber that fails or solid “race” mounts that make your dashboard rattle and your teeth chatter. We thought that was a terrible compromise.

That’s why we developed ELIMIVIBE® technology. Our mounts use a proprietary internal design and high-grade polyurethane to provide:

  • Maximum Support: Virtually eliminating engine and transmission movement.
  • Vibration Damping: Maintaining a level of comfort that makes the car daily-driver friendly.
  • Indestructible Design: Unlike fluid-filled mounts, these will never leak or collapse.

Why OEM Mounts Fail (And Why You Shouldn’t Replace Them with the Same)

Most factory mounts are “liquid-filled” or use very soft, hollow rubber. Over time, heat and torque cause the rubber to crack and the fluid to leak out. Replacing a failed OEM mount with another OEM mount is simply starting a countdown to the next failure. By choosing specialized automotive parts designed for durability, you are performing a long term fix that improves the car’s shift feel and throttle response instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions (Drivetrain Edition)

Q: Will these mounts increase Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH)?
A: Our ELIMIVIBE® line is specifically designed to keep NVH at a minimum. While you may feel a slight increase in engine “presence” compared to a brand-new (but weak) factory mount, it is significantly smoother than traditional polyurethane or solid mounts.

Q: Can I install these engine mounts myself?
A: Yes, our mounts are designed as direct OEM replacements. If you are comfortable supporting the engine and transmission with a jack, you can typically complete the install with basic hand tools.

Q: Do I need to replace the transmission mount at the same time as the engine mounts?
A: We highly recommend it. Replacing only one side of the equation puts extra stress on the new parts. A complete drivetrain refresh ensures the entire system is stabilized.
