Jason Loughran –
I purchased the racing-level-hardness rebuildable engine mounts, with red polyurethane isolators for my 2005 CTS-V. The first impression that you get is that these things are superbly built and engineered. I did not find much information online about these mounts in this hardness, so I hope to give some helpful input to anyone considering them.
I was hesitant to go with fully solid mounts as I drive my car every day and am not an active racer, however, I was willing to tolerate a little extra vibration. I upgraded from busted stock mounts. The increase in vibration is nominal. At higher speeds you will hardly notice anything at all. At lower speeds you will occasionally hear some harmonics, but it’s not even anything bothersome. The response to acceleration is greatly improved. You can feel more of what the car is doing, which I like. At idle, nothing is vibrating or buzzing around in the car, and the difference is more subtle than you would think. I liked the option of being able to go back to a stock hardness, but doubt I ever will now that I know the vibration in the racing-hardness is really not a problem. I also have the racing-hardness differential-bushing, everything might as well match, right?! Also upgraded the transmission mount in the process, as it is recommended to replace alongside engine-mounts. All of this tightened up the feel of the car.
Jordan from Creative Steel sent me some tips and answered questions about installing the mounts, which I was thankful for. In the process, we had to remove the stock starter, which nearly fell to pieces on removal, so we did the GM-6.0-Truck-Starter upgrade. These mounts could well be responsible for preventing me from getting stranded somewhere!
No reason to shy away from the racing-hardness, especially if you are a spirited-driver! Creative Steel gets and A+ for these.
